East Boston's Lost Schools: The Blackinton School

The Blackinton School, was located at the corner of Leyden and Blackinton Streets. Now the site of the Curtis Guild Elementary School. The schoolhouse was built in 1892 and opened to students the same year. The two-story schoolhouse contained six school rooms, a large hall and was heated with a Sturtevant air blast heating system. The school closed in the early 1940s.
